THE WINNING POEM: YESTERDAY WAS SWEET, IS TODAY BITTER? Yesterday was sweet; a vase of rainbow memories moon of hope shone our mud thatched huts Skylark warbled peace in our garden The earth felt the warmth of our arms As we worked on the valley of trust. We played and played together This Aso was too big for two families Our forefathers spoke in parables, Little talks made things brighter Gurgling drums echo the stars. Today you served bitter-kolanut on the tongue table, Hurricane of hatreds unroofed our roof Wind of peace howls, while the tree sway! We uproot trees of love in our forest creep We entomb our ancestors' tomb of unity.
